Building Data Maturity

Helping improve the data maturity of organisations

Data Stewards

When it comes to civil society organisations, there is no one-size-fits all. Different organisations have varying levels of data maturity. In addition, there is no linear path toward data maturity; it depends on the needs, focus, and interest of the organisation. Therefore, what CSOs need is a space that can help them assess and understand their data maturity; provide appropriate and timely support to address their data needs and challenges; and based on their interest, provide various capacity building modules. Given that Tarkam is a space that is sensitive to the needs of civil society and has expertise in data, it will act as a catalyst for deepen data maturity of CSOs.

A critical challenge in the way of deepening data maturity of CSOs is that of improving data interoperability. Tarkam will consistently develop resources such as protocols, standards, playbooks, position papers to improve interoperability of data across domains and civil society actors.

In order to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations, under the Data Stewards Programme at Tarkam, we will create a large network of Data Stewards, who understand both data, and the needs of civil society, who will be embedded with different partnering civil society organisations. The Data Stewards will work with the organisation to improve their data capabilities, as well as be part of an active network to address systemic needs and gaps.
